Tasos Mylonas was born in 1987 in Athens, Greece. He is a visual artist whose journey spans music to sculpture. Graduating with honors from the Athens School of Fine Arts in 2019, and later from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an MFA, Mylonas has cultivated a peculiar artistic voice.

His teenage years, marked by a fascination with music, dismantled and later reinstated principles like harmony and rhythm, stirred by his musical education. These elements are subtly influencing his sculpture. Mylonas’s artistic evolution, a blend of conceptual, figurative, and digital art, represents a collision of concepts and forms, shaped by his varied education.

Exploring a variety of mediums, from traditional clay, plaster, and wax to contemporary metal, 3D printing, and lightning installations, Mylonas creates dialogues on representation, authenticity, and gesture. His work also includes moldmaking, casting, reproduction, and metal fabrication.

Mylonas’ art is a tapestry of influences, from medieval and ancient iconography to philosophy, history, and religion, interwoven with the cultural imprints of 90s cartoons, video games, and music. These elements, along with themes of humanism, posthumanism, and the dialectics of nature and convention, unfold his narratives that ultimately are psychological.

He has been a recipient of the Neon Grant twice, winner of the Ethniki Asfalistiki young artist competition, and a prestigious scholarship from SAIC. He has participated in exhibitions both in Greece and the United States.

Based in Chicago, his current projects revisit observation through memory, and the question of reengagement with the human element in sculpture.
